EatStats ("the app") is an independent iOS app for tracking food and macronutrients. This policy explains what the app collects, why, and who it is shared with. Questions: eatstats.support@gmail.com.
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Email address and password | To create your account and sign you in. Passwords are stored hashed by our authentication provider; we never see them. |
| Profile details — display name, sex, year of birth, height, weight, activity level, goal direction, and your daily calorie and macro targets | To calculate and grade your daily targets. You enter these yourself and can change them at any time in Settings. |
| Food logs — what you logged, the meal, the date, and the calorie and macro values | The core function of the app: showing your day, your history, and your grades. |
| Saved foods | Your bookmarked items, so they can be re-added quickly. |
| Usage counts — how many AI estimates you have run today | To enforce daily limits fairly across plans. |
| Estimate diagnostics — the normalized text of the food descriptions you submit, plus timing and outcome of each estimate | To measure accuracy, improve matching, and detect failures. See "Food descriptions" below. |
We do not collect your contacts, location, browsing activity, advertising identifiers, or health data from Apple Health.
When you describe a food in text, that description is sent to our server and, if it cannot be matched to a known food, on to Google's Gemini AI service to be estimated. The normalized text of these descriptions is stored alongside the result so we can review accuracy. Please avoid typing personal or sensitive information into the food description field.
When you use a photo estimate, the photo is sent to our server and forwarded to Google's Gemini AI service for analysis. Photos are not stored by EatStats — they are used only to produce that single estimate and then discarded.
We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
Meal reminders are scheduled locally on your device. No reminder data leaves your phone, and you can turn them off in Settings or in iOS Settings at any time.
Your data is kept while your account exists. You can delete your account and everything associated with it at any time from Settings → Delete account in the app. Deletion is immediate and permanent: your profile, food logs, saved foods, goals and login credentials are removed from our database and cannot be recovered.
If you can no longer sign in, email eatstats.support@gmail.com from the address you signed up with and we will remove the account for you.
EatStats is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. Calorie targets are not calculated for ages under 13.
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections. Each account can only read and write its own records, enforced at the database level. Your login session is stored in the iOS Keychain on your device.
You can edit or delete individual food entries and saved foods in the app, change or clear your profile details in Settings, and delete your whole account from Settings at any time.
If this policy changes materially, the updated version will be posted here with a new date at the top.
